Why should I buy second hand?

In the rare case something does go wrong, your order may be covered by Purchase Protection. We'll work with you and the seller to make it right.

What kind of Loot do you feature on the platform?

We are working hard to curate a marketplace that is representative of South Asian style, trends, and seasonality. We accept listings based on quality, photographs, and pricing to provide a unique experience for our community.

What's the comment feature?

The comment section is the best part of our platform and makes us unique! Being able to comment allows us to create transparency and trust in our community. Whether you want to know what event the outfit is best for or just want the seller to know how stunning they look, drop a line. Ask the seller how they styled the piece or if they have other items in this size. Who knows, maybe someone has the same question as you!

We created this platform to promote sustainability, from a social perspective. We hope you're able to make lots of human connections, build trust in our little community, all while promoting an ecological mindset. Go ahead, try it and help us make this is a kinder, happier world.

Selling

What's our fee structure?

Listing an item on our platform is free. We only charge a 12% commission fee (and $3 flat fee for items $25 and under) once your item is sold.

How can I list an item?

We're so excited to share your Loot with our community. Start by:

  • Showing it off - take a video and talk about your loot to help sell it faster! You can zoom in on any details, call out any sizing nuances, even do a quick spin or walk! Add pictures of any of the above. Check out to help your loot look its best!
  • Price it - pricing guide for reference here! Check out to help price your loot!
  • Submit your listing. Once approved, you will recieve a notification and your listing will be shared with theLoot's community!

How do order refunds/cancellations work?

All sales are final once the order is confirmed. If there are any unforseen issues, please report to theLoot within 3 days from the date when the item is shown as delivered and our team will work with you to find a resolution.

Photographic evidence, written statements and other documentation may be required in order to review your case. For the best outcome, please provide all of the necessary documentation requested in a timely manner.

How should I ship my item?

Congrats on the sale! As a seller, you're responsible for shipping your item and providing the buyer with a tracking number. Please provide the tracking number within 3 business days of the order confirmation, or the order will be cancelled.

Please incorporate shipping costs into the total price of your item.

What if there's issues with shipping?

We recommend using a shipping carrier that provides tracking numbers. If for any reason you have issues, we recommend contacting the carrier you chose to ship your item and work with them to resolve the issue. If the tracking number says the item has been delivered, but the buyer hasn't received it, the buyer should work with the carrier to resolve the issue.

How am I protected as the seller?

We are committed to helping sellers feel safe listing their item with us.

Our team is dedicated to thoroughly reviewing order issues and working directly with you to keep your sales secure from fraudulent activity or certain issues outside of your control.

What if I live outside the United States?

While we are excited that we have interest in our platform on a global level, we currently are only open to the United States. As we continue to grow, we will plan to expand our platform worldwide!

Payments

When do I get paid?

Payment will be released once the tracking number confirms that the item has been delivered to the buyer. If you have any issues with your shipment, we recommend you call your shipping carrier to resolve the issue.

How will I receive my earnings?

Transactions are done through Stripe. You will be prompted to connect a bank account or debit card to your Stripe account to receive your earnings.

Will I receive a 1099-K tax form from theLoot?

Stripe will issue a 1099-K to sellers who sell $600 or more via our site.

Buying

How to find what you're looking for

We‘ve tried to make searching for THE perfect secondhand loot a breeze.

If you‘re looking for a specific event, use the search bar to discover items based on your parameters. We encourage sellers to tag items based on event type, design, dress code, etc. so you can search away!

If you‘d rather search by size, color, or type of oufit, try out our filters. You can pick your size(s), yup you can pick more than one size (and add any other filters) for concurrent searches, based on our sizing table and find the perfect loot for you.

How do order refunds/cancellations work for the seller?

All sales are final. However, we do understand sometimes things don‘t go according to plan. theLoot offers buyer‘s protection if an item you purchased materially differs from its description in color, condition, fabric, and/or size (for measurements, within 1 in margin of error). It‘s the buyer‘s responsibility to confirm sizing if not measurements are provided.

Please report any issues to theLoot within 3 days from the date when the item is shown as delivered and we will work with you to find a resolution. Photographic evidence, written statements and other documentation may be required in order to review your case. For the best outcome, please provide all of the necessary documentation requested in a timely manner.

If your item was damaged in transportation, theLoot is not responsible and we recommend you contact the carrier and work with them to resolve the issue.

Tracking number shows item has been delivered, but I have not received it. What should I do?

If the tracking number shows the item has been delivered, but you have not received it, we recommend contacting the carrier to locate the item. We also recommend asking your neighbors as packages are sometimes delivered to the wrong address or misplaced. If for any reason you think theft may have played a part, we ask that you work with your local police and file a report with them.

theLoot nor the seller are responsible for lost or stolen packages after the item has been shipped and the correct tracking number has been provided.

How about offline transactions?

Maintaining communication within our platform allows us to provide you with the best possible protection and support may you ever need it! We strongly recommend utilizing our comment section for inquiries, as it promotes transparency and may help others with similar questions.

We reserve the right to suspend any account suspected of engaging in offline transactions, which includes sharing phone numbers, emails, or social media accounts.

Please note, theLoot cannot take responsibility for any offline transactions and does not offer buyer or seller protections for transactions conducted outside our platform.
